Restructured Topical Ointments and Tinctures.

I am drawn to discarded objects. I've traced this back to where I grew up on the outskirts of Salem, Oregon and to my father who was a pack rat and a little eccentric.

There was no shortage of junk, broken things, and scraps of this and that lying around my family's property. This was somewhat of an embarrassment to my mother, but I found things from forgotten times, things that released my imagination in ways that are hard to relate.

I mainly use materials I find while walking or driving around Seattle. Old rotten plywood, papers, pieces of metal, text from old books and magazines, old drawers and boxes. These things may seem random, but they all came from somewhere and connect with me in some way. Sometimes I combine them with my own writings, drawings, or photographs.

With my pieces, I hope to convey a sense of unresolved mystery, absurdity, loneliness, and the unknown.
